– Klonopin – Panic Disorder Sleep
Klonopin is used to treat epileptic seizures in adults and children. Also, the medication is able to stop psychomotor seizures and crises and relieve the increased tone of muscle fibers.
The drug can be used as a sedative (sedative), as well as a sleeping pill. The effect of the drug is especially valuable for patients who have an organic lesion of brain tissue.
The drug reduces the excitability of the subcortical brain regions:
·tubercle of the optic nerve.
Klonopin (Clonazepam) refers to drugs that affect the nervous system, and the drug belongs to the pharmacological group of antiepileptic drugs.
The drug acts in many directions in the structure of the central nervous system and the brain, its effect on the hypothalamus and the limbic system is especially felt. These organs are responsible for emotional functions in the nerve fibers. Related to benzodiazepines, clonazepam depresses GABA receptors and neurons in the cerebral cortex.
The mechanism of action of clonazepam
Also, there is an inhibition of GEMK receptors in the following parts of the brain:
·NS receptors located in the brain regions.
The consequence of the activity of the benzodiazepine receptor is an increase in the flow of chloride ions through their channels into neurons. In connection with such an intake of chlorine and inhibition of GABA, inhibition of neuronal function occurs (release of a neuronal transmitter).
The drug reduces the severity of focal seizures of epilepsy. The following properties of the drug are clinically confirmed:
·eliminating the symptoms of anxiety;
·increased seizure threshold;
·relaxing for muscle fibers.
Indications and contraindications
The main therapeutic direction of Klonopin is the regulation and increase in the seizure threshold, as well as the relief of seizures of various etiologies. The main indications for prescribing a medication:
·epileptic seizures regardless of age (from birth to old age);
·complex focal seizures with or without secondary generalization;
·increased tone of muscle fibers;
·after giving up alcohol (with chronic alcoholism).
Contraindications for the appointment of the drug are such pathologies:
·disturbances in the work of the respiratory system;
·deviations in consciousness;
·insufficiency of respiratory organs;
·severe liver pathology;
Reception is also contraindicated:
·women in the lactation period;
·patients who are allergic to the components of the drug.
Women during pregnancy are allowed to take the drug only as prescribed by the doctor and if there is an emergency for admission.

Instructions for use
In accordance with the instructions for the drug Clonazepam, it is necessary to start therapy with minimal dosages, gradually increasing them to therapeutic doses at which the maximum effect of treatment is achieved. The dosage of the drug is selected for each patient individually, based on the pathology, as well as the degree of its progression:
In adults, the initial dose of clonazepam is 0.5 mg three times a day. Dose increases occur every three days. To maintain the therapeutic effect, the doctor sets the individual dosage and duration of treatment.
The average daily dosage during therapy is 4 to 8 mg three times a day. Treatment continues for 21-30 calendar days. After achieving positive dynamics in the treatment, the medication can be taken daily at bedtime. The maximum allowable daily dosage is up to 20 mg.
